Mike Ping, a.k.a. "Antifa Canine":
Born: June 28th 1962 in Chattanooga TN.
Moved to Frankfurt Germany at 6 weeks old (father reenlisted after graduation from Indiana University in 1962).
1966 - We moved back to Bloomington Indiana.
1967 - We moved to Stratton CO.
1970 - After being shot in the face with a bow and arrow, we left Stratton and moved to Greeley CO. My parents taught at University of Northern Colorado Greeley.
1974 - We moved to Wilmington NC. This is where I met "Cuz" and MJ. My first band was with Cuz, and at fourteen years old we played our first outdoor show together. I play guitar and Cuz was the drummer. We went on to play in the New Hanover high school jazz band together. The last time we played together was when he was at NC School of the Arts. I came up for the weekend and on Saturday we jammed with the Jazz band (1981-1982?).
1979 - We move to Raleigh. My parents divorced and my mother got a job at Shaw University as the director of the music department.
1979 Fall - My brother is home from the Army and asks me to move to San Francisco I said sure. I dropped out of high school and went on an adventure.
1980 - After an exciting year my brother leaves SF. I moved in with a friend. Walking to the store on day we witnessed a shooting. I got scared and took off back to NC. On the bus ride home I was arrested for possession of two joints and spend 10 days in El Paso County Jail. I was 18 yrs. old.
1986 - After a few years cooking in restaurants I was hired as a sous chef.
1990 - I'm sitting at the counter at "Sadlacks" on Hillsborough st. in Raleigh. I started talking to the woman next to me and turns out it was Teresa, a friend from our apartment complex in Wilmington. She knew Cuz and MikeJ. She quickly realized I didn't remember who MJ was. I was so inspired by Mike, I quit drinking and went to college.
1991 - 1992 school year I spend at the College of Marin in Kentfield CA .
1992 - 1993 I spent at Wilson Technical College in Wilson NC. I lived in a warehouse downtown owned by my stepfather. My mother had a music studio there too.
1993 - 1996 - I spent at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. I graduated cum laude with a BS in Geography.
1996 - After graduation I got a job with the North Carolina General Assembly, Legislative Services(Raleigh) as a Geographic Information Systems Tech. This is where I first experience "gerrymandering".
1997 - Worked as a GIS technician for NCCGIA.
1998 - Worked as a GIS tech. for TJCOG.
2000 - 2015 Worked for Wake County NC.
2015 - My life falls apart. Causes will remain anonymous Spent 2015 and 2016 living in motels all across NC
2016 - Diagnosed with PTSD at the main mental health facility in NC. .
2017 - After crashing my Honda Element into a tree, I spend 4 months in Jail in Wyoming County PA.
2018 - Back to Rehab. The one in NC sucked so I went to New Orleans to the facility my brother graduated from.
2019 - Retired early, thanks to a certain federal SSDI issue/law.
2020(late 2019?) - Moved to Portland. My first permanent home since 2015.
2021 - Thanks to the stimulus check I got a new surfboard, guitars and recording equipment. Life is good!!
